STAVANGER, Norway – DONG E&P Norge’s Oselvar field has produced first oil and gas, according to partner Norwegian Energy Co. (Noreco).
The field is in licenses PL274 and PL274CS in the southern Norwegian North Sea, and has been developed with two horizontal production wells. These are connected to asubsea template tied back 23 km (14 mi) to the BP-operated Ula field complex.
Athird well is being drilled and is scheduled to be completed before summer. Oselvar’s oil is transported via Ekofisk to Teesside, northeast England, while the gas is re-injected into the Ula reservoir.
Production should last around 20 years, with total reserves estimated at 53 MMboe, split equally between oil and gas.
DONG operates with a 55% interest, with Bayerngas Norge holding 30% and Noreco 15%. This is Noreco’s first Norwegian field development project.
